One destination that continues to stand out is Hvar, Croatia, an island known for its beautiful Adriatic coastline, historic Old Town, lively beach clubs, exceptional restaurants, and increasingly international crowd.
During a recent visit to Hvar, Champagne Mike was featured by a Croatian writer and friend who offered readers a glimpse into the personality and philosophy behind the Champagne Mike lifestyle.
A Different Kind of Jet-Set Destination
Champagne Mike is no stranger to some of the world’s most exclusive destinations, including St. Barts, Monaco and Lake Como. But Croatia offers something different.
Asked whether Hvar had become a true international jet-set destination, Mike felt it hadn’t reached the level of places such as St. Barts—and suggested that may actually be part of its appeal.
Hvar still has its own personality. It combines beautiful scenery and sophisticated restaurants and nightlife with a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere that makes it feel considerably less manufactured than some of the world’s established luxury destinations.
And when asked about Croatia’s reputation for becoming increasingly expensive, Mike responded with characteristic humor, joking that after partying all day, he still hadn’t managed to spend €10,000.
Champagne at Carpe Diem Beach
Of course, no visit to Hvar would be complete without a little champagne.
The trip included time at Carpe Diem Beach, one of Hvar’s best-known destinations for enjoying the Adriatic by day and celebrating into the evening.
Along the way, Mike’s group grew to include new friends they met on the island, including models visiting from California. Former Miss Croatia Lucija Begić also joined the festivities after being introduced to Mike by their mutual friend.
It was a scene that captured much of what Champagne Mike enjoys about traveling: beautiful destinations, old friends, new friends, spontaneous experiences and a bottle—or several—of champagne to share.

More Than the Champagne
Behind the Champagne Mike persona, however, is something considerably more meaningful.
When asked whether his life was simply about traveling and partying, Mike spoke about his working-class background and his belief in helping children and others who haven’t been given the same opportunities in life.
Having experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to build something for yourself, he considers giving back an important part of his personal philosophy.
Success may provide the opportunity to travel the world and enjoy extraordinary experiences, but Mike believes it also creates an opportunity—and responsibility—to help others.
Not everyone, as he puts it, is born under a lucky star.
